My wife and I own a 2018 Sportsman Heritage 231. Due to events occurring while I wasn’t behind the wheel, the boat and trailer were driven into the side of our neighborhood launch ramp resulting in significant damage to the truck, trailer and boat. The boat sustained scraping and a gouge down the starboard side. I contacted Paal at Custom Machine Finishes. He explained in detail various processes available to repair and restore gelcoat. Still emotional about the damage, it was comforting to hear Paal say that he could restore our boat to “like new condition”. Based on a number of follow up conversations I began to trust that he could do what he promised. Paal inspected the boat and trailer thoroughly and pointed out numerous issues. Things I wasn’t even aware of. He won the job. At completion, I brought a list of items to check on (e.g.: 3 trailer issues, cushions, top of T-Top.) Paal did everything he said he would. The boat truly looks brand new. No more white haze on the gelcoat, no scratches, gouges, etc. Just a showroom finish on the interior and exterior of the boat. The cushions that previously had bird and spider droppings that I had tried everything to clean were now looking brand new. And everything is protected with ceramic coating. Paal is a good guy, very knowledgeable, transparent, explains things in layperson terms, shares his wisdom and is honest. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for this type of work. Paul and the Team at Custom Marine Finishes transformed by 2012 Sea Ray 270 SLX into a brand new boat. The boat was originally navy and Paul painted my boat an ice blue awlgrip finish so it will never fade. Paul got even the teakwork to look new again. Every boater has good days and bad. I had a particularly bad day when I dropped my brand new boat off the trailer at the boat ramp. It slid down about 5 feet on the concrete and left a pretty blue stripe as it ripped through the gel coat. Heavy damage to the fiberglass bottom rear vee area. Was headed to the low country to go redfishing and found Custom Marine Finishes and decided to let them do the repair. Good reviews at a fair price! I had guests coming for the weekend so had only three days for the repair work. Paal rearranged his schedule to fit me in and stayed into the evening working on my boat. He got it done in time and it looks new again! I would highly recommend him for any repair work. High quality work and very knowledgeable! I plan to go back next week to have him do the ceramic coating.
