Kinda a mixed bag on this one: Brought my little 6HP 4 stroke kicker motor in for repair. The spring in the starter assembly broke. I was informed that I would have to buy a whole new assembly instead of just replacing the spring. I got that. Its a pain to wind that spring. New starter assembly would be $400 and 2 months. Well, by that time summer would be over. I had my doubts. So I went to the official online Yamaha parts store and found the assembly for $115. Shipping in less than a week. Dug deeper and found a Chinese knockoff for $70. The part travelled all the way from China, cleared customs and got to my garage in 15 days. I slapped it on my outboard and the thing fired up on the first pull. Not entirely sure why i was told $400 or the 2 month waiting period? Maybe they didn't wanna deal with it and gave me the "go away" price? Who knows. One funny thing. When I got my outboard back, I noticed the flywheel bolt was missing. I called them up. Sure enough. It was sitting on the mechanics desk. They could have saved face and told me they hadn't seen it. So I appreciate that they returned it to me. So like I said, mixed bag.

Fantastic experience purchasing our 2026 Yamaha from Matt Ness at Grand Pointe Marina in Lansing. Matt was extremely knowledgeable and able to answer every question. Maxwell brought it full circle with his technical expertise teaching us everything we need to know! Can’t wait for the weather to warm up and get this beauty on the water!

I am posting this to bring awareness and to ask for accountability from Grand Pointe Marina, specifically involving management — Chris Stevens and Christy Stevens. In 2021, I purchased a boat that was documented, financed, and represented to me as having a NEW motor. I trusted the paperwork, the dealership, and the sales process. I have since discovered — and it has been acknowledged by the dealer — that the motor installed was actually re-manufactured/used due to COVID inventory shortage they claim. At NO point was this clearly disclosed to me before purchase, despite all financing and sales documents stating the motor was new. This is not a small mistake. This is a serious issue of misrepresentation of product and value. Consumers make major financial decisions based on what is written in contracts and what is verbally represented during sales. To date, the only resolution offered has been a refund of the extended warranty I purchased. That does NOT correct the core issue that I financed and paid for a product that was not what was promised or documented. Both Chris and Christy Stevens are fully aware of this situation. I am still seeking a fair, honest resolution that actually addresses the misrepresentation that occurred — not just a partial fix that ignores the original problem. I am sharing this because consumers deserve transparency, honesty, and ethical business practices — especially on large purchases like boats. Accountability matters.

Would rate my experience lower if I could. Make sure you triple check over the whole boat and trailer very thoroughly before you buy. Purchased boat in Nov 2020. One of the brake calipers on the trailer came loose after less than a month of owning the boat. Had to wait for months for them to repair it, thankfully the first time they gave me a loaner trailer to use. When the winch arm broke the first time they installed one that was clearly not meant for my trailer, but at least I could still use the boat. Then the brakes on the other side of the trailer came loose so they decided instead of replacing the trailer thats had multiple issues, they were going to replace the axle, weeks longer waiting on parts and installation. After 11 months with the boat and multiple fixes, the winch arm broke a 2nd time and the compartment with the battery had broken welds, the battery was in the haul of the boat. Dropped off boat December 2021 to get repaired, had just filled the gas to full and had just installed brand new 100Ah lithium batteries. Was told then they had to send back to the factory. March rolls around and I haven't heard from anyone and I was just about to call to see if the boat was ready and they call me to tell me to come empty the boat so they could send it to the factory. 3 months it sat at the marina when it should have been getting fixed. I get the boat back in June of 2022, 6 months after I had dropped it off and it had a quarter tank of gas and my brand new batteries were filthy. Luckily I said something about the fuel while I was there and they filled it, but I guess I should have checked the trolling batteries too. Definitely looks like they were used or at the very least not taken care of properly while they were out of my boat. Make sure you take photos of everything when you drop your boat off for service and check the level of gas in your tank if you decide to use their services.

These guys were amazing! Bought a used Ranger and found it had a leaking oil cooler and bad Jack plate motor. Jay and the Lansing crew fixed everything free of charge and had me back on the lake fast! I couldn't be more satisfied and I highly recommend these professionals! Awesome service!
