  I flew into this regional terminal during a vacation to the South Carolina coast and was thoroughly impressed by how seamless and stress-free the experience was. The facility is incredibly small and compact, which is its greatest strength—you can walk from the tarmac, through baggage claim, and out to the rental car counter in just a matter of minutes. The entire property has a charming, laid-back island atmosphere that makes you feel like your vacation starts the moment you step off the airplane. The interior is clean, well-lit, and remarkably easy to navigate, completely eliminating the frantic rushing and long lines associated with major hubs. The TSA security screening process was quick and efficient, and the airport staff members were exceptionally polite and helpful. While the dining and retail options inside are very limited due to the building's size, the sheer convenience of landing right on the island rather than driving in from Savannah makes it a fantastic, hassle-free gateway for travelers.

  I am writing to share a disappointing experience at Hilton Head Airport’s arrivals area on May 17th around 12:00 PM. A female staff member directing traffic was aggressively confronting drivers — including myself — while passengers were still walking down the sidewalk to reach their vehicle. Rather than offering any guidance or direction, her approach felt combative and unwelcoming, more akin to harassment than customer service. I understand the need to manage traffic flow (as a New Yorker who flies out of very busy airports, unlike this one) but the manner in which this was handled was completely inappropriate for an airport that depends on tourism. Hilton Head’s economy is built on welcoming visitors, and this was the opposite of that. I’d also like to flag a root cause: the signage distinguishing taxi-only zones from general pickup areas is inadequate. Drivers should not have to be berated for something that clear, prominent signage would prevent entirely. Some specific suggestions: • Install clear, visible signage differentiating taxi-only vs. general pickup lanes BEFORE drivers enter the zone • Provide staff with customer service training appropriate for a tourism-driven destination • Set a tone of hospitality rather than enforcement — visitors spending money in your community deserve to be welcomed, not scolded Hilton Head is a world-class destination. Its airport should reflect that. I hope you’ll take this feedback seriously.
