  Sold expensive parts that it turned out weren't needed. $130 per hour for sub standard work and abilities. Left screws laying in the lower section of my outboard motor and found a number of screws and bolts not just loose but not completely threaded into place. I would also like to comment for a good friend that took an outboard motor to Shannon marina for a basic tune up. He was told he needed $1200 in parts so with labor probably closer to $1800. He stopped service as the only thing done by that time was the spark plugs were replaced. He took his boat out and it started hard, ran terrible and ultimately alarmed, stalled and wouldn't start. He took it to the marine repair in Albany, Il and they said he didn't need any of the parts that Shannon marina said it needed, but found the spark plug wires were put on in the wrong order. They also installed a new water pump with their bill coming to just under $300. The motor ran stronger and better than it ever did. Then there was the cost of the spark plugs that Shannon Marina installed when they got the wires placed incorrectly, over $400 for the botched installation of the plugs. I don't see how anyone with this type of track record stays in buisness. Beware Shannon Marine repair will try to sell you parts you don't need, they will also try to up-sell you by telling you that yours is worn out and if that's not enough if you allow them to continue with the repairs chances are they'll screw that up also. If it weren't for the captive clients in the area of Lake Carroll this guy would have been out of buisness a long time ago.
