Boat Doctor formally R&K Marine

Neal did a great job on my Mercury Optimax. After previously being ripped-off by a local con man, Neal took what was left of my motor, found the necessary parts and put it back together. He talked me through the best options and parts, and made recommendations based on his knowledge of the motor - even recommended using some used parts versus buying new. He put it back together and it runs better than it has since I bought it. I would recommend R&K to anyone needing an honest opinion and quality mechanical service. I drive an hour and half each way to have him service my boat.

Fantastic experience. Neil and his crew always do a great job and keep my boat in good working order. Their ability to diagnose and fix Mercury motors is really second to none. It’s great to deal with people that do what they say they are going to do and R & K does just that. We are fortunate to have them in the area.

AKA "Boat Doctor" - I do not recommend Neil with R&K Marine - I lost the entire season waiting for Neil, had he been upfront and honest with me about how backed up he was I would have simply took it somewhere else. I took my mercury four stroke to him for a new fuel pump in June, he kept my boat until the beginning of October! But every time I spoke with him about it he said we'll get to it next week, but the weeks just kept rolling by. Then I got fed up and I went to get the boat to take it somewhere else and he had it all taken apart... once he finally got to it, he could not find the part, it took two months to get the part, which maybe wasn't entirely his fault, but we knew it was the fuel pump when I dropped it off, he could have, and should have, ordered it right then... To you add to my injury, he lost a part for the engine housing and couldn't put the housing back together, so he had to order that part, which took another week. Now that I finally have it back both batteries are completely dead on my boat, and I see that he attached my charger to only one side of the battery bank, so apparently he made an attempt at charging the batteries, but didn't know how to hook up the charger (I had it properly hooked up if he had just plugged it in) - he may know old-school motors, but I would not bring new four strokes to him. He also changed names from June to October, he now calls himself the Boat Dr.
