Lake Point Boat Repair

Joe and his team took on a full motor replacment for my 2005 Crownline 225 LPX. They provided a great price and the communication thru out the process was fantastic. I am working on breaking in the new motor. I recommend Joe and his team.

We dropped our boat off on April 21, and it remained in the shop for approximately a month, which we were comfortable with. At the time of drop-off, I explained that there appeared to be an electrical short in the system. Specifically, whenever the livewell or washdown pump was activated, all power would shut down. We had recently replaced both the washdown and aerator pumps ourselves, so we were confident that the issue did not stem from the pumps, but rather from an underlying short in the wiring. We also requested that the trailer lights be inspected. After following up by phone and learning that they were waiting on new pumps, I visited the shop in person to clarify that the pumps were not the issue—we had already installed new ones. The root cause was a short somewhere in the electrical system. During my conversation with the mechanic, he mentioned that the “fishfinder” kept shutting off, which immediately raised concern as the fishfinder cover hadn’t even been removed—he was actually referring to the gauges. This miscommunication, along with his apparent lack of familiarity with the equipment, left me questioning the technician’s level of expertise. After reviewing the situation with my husband, we were both concerned about whether the work would be done correctly. However, since they had already begun the repairs, we decided to let them proceed. The shop ended up replacing the circuit board and the trailer lights. Upon pickup, one of the trailer lights was still non-functional, though it was quickly addressed. Once home, a more thorough inspection revealed that the wiring along the trailer was left hanging loosely, and none of the wires inside the hull had been properly secured or placed back in their protective covers. Most importantly, the original electrical issue that prompted the service visit was still unresolved. While we were aware of a few negative reviews, we had hoped those were isolated incidents. I bought a boat and it sat in storage for about 5 months and I needed to get it ready for the summer so I took it to Lake Point Boat Repair and that was not a mistake. They did more than I expected and they did the work for a very reasonable price. I will definitely take it back when the boat needs to be repaired and highly recommend this place for any repairs that need to be done.
