I would highly recommend Northwest Flight Service to anyone looking for quality flight training, whether you are just looking for a private pilot license or working toward advanced ratings. What really makes this school stand out compared to the other flight schools I have been to is the quality of the instructors, the nice facility, and the airplanes. I believe the CFIs genuinely enjoy teaching and helping students improve, which makes a huge difference during training. Instead of feeling like you are just another student helping someone build hours, the instructors actually take the time to explain concepts clearly, answer questions, and make sure you understand what you are doing both in the air and on the ground. Another thing I appreciated is the variety of instructors available. They have both younger and older male and female CFIs, which gave me a chance to find some different perspectives on my flying. Some instructors bring years of aviation and real-world experience, while others bring newer techniques. Nate Brown has been my CFI and has been great. Some other stand out instructors are Billy Martin and Rachel Robbins. Ray at the front desk is also always helpful and welcoming, and Dan the chief pilot is always friendly and has a deep knowledge of all things aviation. The two Cessnas are the more affordable option for training compared to the nicer Cirrus aircraft, which makes flying more accessible for students trying to keep costs manageable like me. The Cessnas are reliable trainers and good for learning, but I do believe NWFS could benefit from getting either a newer Cessna or a older Cirrus to bring more creature comforts down to a cheaper aircraft for students on a budget. Overall, I give Northwest Flight Service five stars due its staff, facility, reasonable prices, and well maintained and clean aircraft.

Highly recommend! I was looking for a new experience for my 12 y o granddaughter, and THIS IS IT! Matthew Hamm was an amazing pilot/instructor and Ray in the office helped with all the details. I felt the price was competitive, and we had MUCH more fun than a standard experience. She had hands on training in the simulator, and we flew with her at the controls. It was transformative for her-she's thinking of continuing private pilot lessons-all because of Matthew's calm & steady demeanor, and knowledgeable training. THANK YOU for the best 2+hours of her (and my) summer!

I recently completed my Private Pilot License in just 4 months, and I couldn't be happier with my experience at this flight school. From day one, the staff, instructors, and maintenance team (and of course Ray at the front desk) were incredibly welcoming, professional, and knowledgeable. The SR20s are fantastic aircraft to train in, and they're always well-maintained, which gave me confidence every time I flew. A huge shoutout to my instructor, Dani, who has been absolutely amazing throughout my training. Her knowledge, patience, and dedication made a huge difference in helping me achieve my PPL. I truly couldn't have chosen a better flight school, and I'm excited to continue my aviation journey here with my instrument rating and beyond. Highly recommend this school to anyone looking for top-notch flight training!

Great flight school. Highly recommended. I took ground school here and had a top of the line experience. The in-person, high quality lessons were very helpful to me in learning the information I need to become a pilot. The instructors are awesome and make the time around the facility immensely enjoyable. I am looking forward to continuing my pilot training at NWFS in the weeks and months to come. Thank you!

I attended an Instrument Pilot Ground School at NWFS and was very impressed by the instructors and staff. They were highly knowledgeable and professional. The curriculum for the course was well designed and helped me pass the written exam for my instrument rating by actually understanding the content well, not just memorizing the questions/answers. Rachel and Dani did an excellent job explaining the concepts covered in the ground course. I have also flown with Billy, who has provided high quality instruction introducing me to instrument flying in both the school’s 172 and the simulator. The aircraft at NWFS are well maintained. Great people and a very professional operation all-around!
