Portland International Airport

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Portland International Airport (PDX), and I can confidently say it is one of the finest airports I have ever experienced. The newly renovated main terminal is absolutely breathtaking. The stunning mass timber roof, abundant natural lighting, open spaces, and modern Pacific Northwest-inspired architecture create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that immediately makes travelers feel comfortable and relaxed. It truly reflects the beauty and character of Oregon. The TSA officers and airport staff were outstanding throughout my visit. Everyone I interacted with was professional, courteous, patient, and genuinely helpful. They kept the security screening process organized and efficient while maintaining a friendly attitude, making what can often be a stressful part of traveling surprisingly smooth and pleasant. Another highlight of PDX is its incredible selection of local restaurants, cafés, shops, and retail stores. I especially appreciate that the airport continues Portland’s street-pricing policy, meaning travelers pay the same prices they would find outside the airport. That’s a refreshing approach that benefits both Oregon residents and visitors from around the world, allowing everyone to enjoy high-quality local food, beverages, souvenirs, and travel essentials without inflated airport prices. The airport is exceptionally clean, easy to navigate, and thoughtfully designed with comfortable seating, spacious walkways, and excellent amenities. Every detail demonstrates a commitment to providing an outstanding passenger experience. Portland International Airport is a world-class gateway to Oregon and an airport the entire region should be proud of. Whether you’re a Portland local or an international visitor, PDX offers a welcoming, efficient, and memorable travel experience from the moment you arrive. Stunning airport, honestly the most beautiful I've seen. I'm typically more fond of small airports where you can get through security and to your gate quickly, but those tend to lack the amenities and architectural features of larger ones. PDX manages to balance both nicely. My favorite part was the design. A big part of the airport has been remodeled, with enormous open rooms, high ceilings with wooden beams, lots of natural light, lounge chairs, and real plants and trees throughout. Security ran particularly efficiently too, and I liked the lack of chain shops and restaurants in favor of local businesses. The gates themselves are untouched and older by comparison, with hard, firm seating, a bit of a contrast to the rest of the terminal.

Best airport I’ve been to and lived nearby. The new design! Just fantastic. The prices if you like to buy anything before or after travel, amazing. Thanks PDX, you are doing great!
